I found that when the repeater router (the d-link D4) was broadcasting its own network name (or SSID) independently of the primary router (the d-link D5) through a virtual interface it caused conflict with the primary router's wifi signal and I had to make the 30/30/30 reset, then reload the original Linksys firmware and then dd-wrt again. With some slight difference in the order from the documented procedure I got the wifi on, but had to enter the SSIDs twice before they got stored! The thing was not working, anyway.
